The Reason

In my free time I love to draw. During the pandemic, I wanted to brush up on my skills and develop my own style and niche. While I started drawing every day with markers, I wanted to add a skill of working digitally too. After working on a wacom tablet, I picked up an iPad with procreate, in order to turn what I was working on physically, digital.

Of course my muse is my dog, Theo. Ever since I was little, my dream was to have a dog, little did I know how connected I would feel with him. My goal is to illustrate the little moments of love between a girl and her dog. Theo loves food, sleeping and me.

The Process

It usually starts with a moment that happens in real life, that I think would make a good illustration. Something that I think is adorable, or other dog owners can relate to. From their I sketch out what I can from memory, but my dog Theo is always close by for reference.

I love having the freedom to add anything I want to, like a heart, to show the love I have for that moment I share. I also take pictures of my dog, and have found illustrations are such an amazing way of allowing me to show a specific scene without added distraction of a background or funny photoshop-ing. The style I use is light hearted and bubbly which perfectly shows how I feel about Theo, just s’cute! ◡̈
